The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently announced that it was changing its policy wording so that it aligned with President Donald Trump’s executive order titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” This EO explicitly protects women by banning males from participating in their sports.

However, the NCAA’s update leaves a very obvious loophole. As evolutionary biologist Colin Wright points out in City Journal:

Though the policy states that “a student-athlete assigned male at birth may not compete on a women’s team,” and that eligibility will be determined based on the sex “marked on [the athlete’s] birth records,” this standard is easily manipulated. In rare cases, though more commonly in developing countries, doctors may misidentify a male newborn’s sex due to female-like or ambiguous genitalia caused by a developmental condition. The NCAA’s policy does nothing to keep such misclassified males out of women’s sports.

As Wright correctly notes, that very vagueness is what forced female Olympians this past summer to get beaten up by males with such disorders in boxing.

Another way that “assigned male at birth” can be exploited is that at least 44 out of the 50 states allow people to change the sex on their birth certificate.

This NCAA rebrand is akin to how the Left rebrands their other extreme ideologies like critical race theory (CRT) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The outcomes are the same while hiding under a veneer of obedience.

It’s a play that the Democrats are also using at the legislative level. Earlier this week, the Senate shot down the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This bill, designed to protect women athletes from incursion by gender-confused males, needed 60 votes but failed 51-45. Every single Democrat voted “No” — and then many of them had the gall to show up to Donald Trump’s address to Congress last night wearing pink to “support women.”

What’s truly astonishing is that the Democrat senators’ reasons for voting against it were that the men playing in women’s sports were a vanishingly small number, and therefore, it’s a non-issue. In truth, every male who is playing in a women’s sport is taking away a place on a team, playing time, the podium, or prize money from a female. Even one is too many.

One of Democrats’ most frequent talking points is that men competing in women’s sports doesn’t impact that many people.

This line of reasoning is talking past the sale. It jumps over all the logical reasons why gender-confused males shouldn’t be in women’s sports.

Moreover, Democrats voting “No” shows just how out of touch they are with their own voters. Allowing men in women’s sports is not supported even by most Democrats. In a recent New York Times/Ipsos poll, 79% of respondents said that men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports. Yet the Democrats in Congress are going to die on this hill.

So much for the party that claims to be about women’s rights. They only care about women’s rights when it involves killing a pre-born baby.
