China: The Bane of Modern Civilization

Exploring China’s government and culture and its behavior towards other countries, ethnicities, and segments of its own citizenry.

According to the Pew Research Center, as of February 2025, concern about China is not among the top 20 issues that concern Americans, despite ample evidence that China should be high up on the list of potential threats to the safety and security of America. China makes an enormous effort to keep Americans in the dark using massive disinformation, bribing, and coopting the Fourth Estate to spread its lies. Americans are mostly ignorant of China’s extensive record of depredation, conquest, violation of international law, and abuse of its own citizens and other countries.

Roughly 92% of Chinese people are Han Chinese. Han Chinese dominate in government and party. They look down on others and consider themselves to be superior to all others. The Chinese are racist toward blacks. According to Human Rights Watch, “Racist content against Black people is widespread on the internet in China.” This attitude of superiority partially comes from their 5,000-year history and glorification of their past culture. China identifies itself as the Middle Kingdom — i.e., the most important nation in history. With China’s recent rise economically, politically, militarily, and culturally, its people consider themselves to be superior to all others. They are working feverishly on every front to rule the world.

China is officially an atheist state, though its government recognizes the religions of Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, and two forms of Christianity: Protestant and Catholic. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is supreme, and all religions must actively pledge obedience to the CCP in order to exist. The CCP has no real moral compass and is motivated strictly by ambition, power, and the desire to rule. During the Cultural Revolution, this lack of values manifested itself in shocking ways with the events at Tiananmen Square and the mass murders that took place. Since Chinese Communists have no God, they have no moral constraints against treating other humans, even other Chinese, badly. They don’t bat an eye about killing those who disagree with them. The CCP rules with an iron hand, and any who resist are punished severely.

China’s modern history has been warring against its neighbors and conquering those in the way of its ambitions.

Conquering of Tibet: China invaded and illegally took over Tibet over 70 years ago, and Tibetans have lived in fear and oppression ever since. Every move they make is monitored by the invaders, and any slight infraction will land them in a prison camp. China controls every aspect of Tibetan life and intends to stamp out Tibetan history and replace it with China’s ideology. The Chinese treatment of the Tibetans is a gross human rights violation, yet they are allowed to get away with it. Three million people are under the boot of China with no hope of freedom, and the world does not care. You can read more about this brutal and ugly story at the Tibet Policy Institute.

Harassment of the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Taiwan, and Japan: China asserts ownership of the South China Sea (SCS) using what is known as the Nine Dash Line, encompassing most of the SCS. International courts have concluded that China’s claim to various features in the South China Sea is illegal. The Philippines rightly owns various islands within its internationally recognized Exclusive Economic Zone. According to the Associated Press, “An international arbitration panel invalidated China’s expansive claims in a 2016 ruling based on the 1982 U.N. Convention of the Law of the Sea, but Beijing refused to participate in the Philippines-initiated arbitration and continues to defy the decision.” China has repeatedly attacked Philippine forces permanently stationed at a Philippine site in attempts to drive them away. According to the United States Naval Institute Proceedings:

China has been in territorial disputes with regional littoral states since the 1950s, including:

  • With Vietnam over the Paracel Islands, currently occupied by China
  • With Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei over the Spratly Islands, currently occupied in part by all these countries except Brunei
  • With Taiwan and the Philippines over Scarborough Shoal, controlled since 2012 by China
  • With Japan and Taiwan over the Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, currently being administered by Japan

By force of military power and by ignoring the international order, China steals land and economic potential from other nations just because it has the military power to do so. No one stops China — not even the U.S.

The Uyghurs: The plight of the Uyghurs has been well-known and publicized widely for years. According to The Atlantic, “The Uyghurs of China suffer mass detention, population suppression, and cultural assimilation under a brutal authoritarian regime.” More than a million Uyghurs have been taken from their homes and put into “reeducation” camps by the CCP. The world has mostly ignored the plight of this Muslim sect.

Conquering of Hong Kong: The world stood idly by in 2020 while China took over Hong Kong, illegally abrogating an agreement with the UK for Hong Kong to function freely and autonomously until the year 2047. Some 7.5 million citizens of Hong Kong are no longer free but suffer under the brutal suppression of their freedoms by China.

Murder of Falun Gong members: One of the most egregious examples of inhumanity by the CCP is the unbelievably sick treatment of the Falun Gong sect. That group seeks to recall the 5,000-year history of China through meditation. Some of its members conducted a silent protest related to the massacre at Tiananmen Square in 1989. The CCP did not like the protest, so it embarked on 20+ years of persecution that resulted in the jailing and murder of thousands of practitioners, including documented harvesting of the internal organs of their members. The sect has largely gone underground to escape attention, and many of its members fled to the West. This is an egregious example of the brutal, valueless approach to humanity practiced by the CCP.

Senator Tom Cotton has recently written a book on China titled Seven Things You Can’t Say About China. The chapter titles tell it all. They are:

“China is an Evil Empire”
“China is Preparing for War”
“China is Waging Economic World War”
“China Has Infiltrated Our Society”
“China Has Infiltrated Our Government”
“China is Coming for Our Kids”
“China Could Win”

This book is a stark wake-up call to America. China is waging war against the U.S. and all others in its way. Americans need to wake up, or we will one day also be under the boot of China.
