Don’t Free Mahmoud Khalil
You don’t have a right to live as a guest in a country you want to destroy.
Violence-crazed Democrats have had enough of drooling over Luigi Mangione, the unhinged lunatic charged with the cold-blooded murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December. Now they’ve moved on to quite literally lionizing a man called Mahmoud Khalil, who has been arrested by federal immigration “in support of President Trump’s executive orders prohibiting antisemitism” and combating terrorist organizations, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“Free Mahmoud Khalil,” posted the Senate Judiciary Democrats.
Rep. Don Beyer likened the arrest to “the McCarthy era,” calling “Trump and Rubio’s detention and attempted deportation of Mahmoud Khalil” a “blatant” assault on free speech.
“We all have to fight back against fascism. This is a test case and it couldn’t be more important we stop this and bring him home,” wrote Rep. Rashida Tlaib of her ally in the war against Israel. “Mahmoud’s rights are our rights. If they can illegally abduct him and shred his legal rights, they will never stop. Anyone this lawless administration disagrees with can be targeted.”
Isn’t it amazing how Democrats have suddenly discovered the First Amendment after months of watching Jewish students hounded on campus and forced from dormitories and libraries and assaulted in the street for the irredeemable crime of being Jewish in public?
But back to Khalil, and why he absolutely should be deported.
Syrian-born Mahmoud Khalil is not an American citizen, and there is no God-given right to the privilege of United States residency. And if the fact that his wife is an American citizen and pregnant is relevant here — which it is not, despite the protests of his supporters — then Khalil should explain why he celebrated the kidnapping of American citizen Sagui Dekel-Chen by Hamas terrorists while his wife was pregnant.
Also, Khalil was not arrested for speech alone. He was also arrested for action, given that he helped lead violent and fascistic protests against Israel at Columbia University after Oct. 7 that have made life miserable — and dangerous — for Jewish Americans on campus. Just last week, he was involved in a protest at Barnard, during which activists handed out Hamas propaganda booklets that justified Hamas’s bloodthirsty assault on Israel.
That’s a crime, by the way.
The State Department designated Hamas as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997, and there are a wide range of crimes associated with supporting terrorist organizations, such as 18 U.S.C. 2339B, which makes it illegal to knowingly provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, such as Hamas.
Ultimately, the residency given to green card holders — and other non-citizen visa holders — is a privilege, not a right, and it’s a privilege that is contingent on obeying our laws, which don’t include celebrating, endorsing and promoting a terrorist group that chants “Death to America” when they’re not chanting “Death to Israel.”
And while there will certainly be a legal (and political) debate over whether the Trump administration can deport terror supporters like Khalil — as outlined by National Review’s Andrew McCarthy — whether Trump should deport terror supporters like Khalil is a simple question for anyone who cares about the United States, Western values and Judeo-Christian principles.
You don’t have a right to live as a guest in a country you want to destroy. So good riddance, Mahmoud Khalil. Hopefully, you can continue your antisemitic obsession in a country that’s more aligned with your values.
