The Patriot Post® · Parents v. Government
An extremely important case was argued before the Supreme Court yesterday on the issue of parental rights in public schools. A religiously diverse group of Maryland parents challenged the left-wing state for teaching gender ideology to their young children.
The issue in this case isn’t standard high school sex education based on biology. The issue is radical gender ideology that denies biology and embraces the lie that boys can become girls and girls can become boys.
Montgomery County, Maryland, is forcing this nonsense on young elementary-aged children in so-called “inclusivity lessons.” One book used in these lessons is “Pride Puppy.” It’s about a family dog that gets lost at a homosexual pride parade. It’s written for three- to five-year-olds.
Why are taxpayer-funded public schools introducing five- and six-year-old kindergartners to gay pride parades?
“The True Story of a Boy Named Penelope” is another book used in these lessons. Except there’s nothing true about it. It’s a lie. Penelope isn’t a boy. She is a young girl who thinks she’s a boy. This book is written for eight-year-olds.
It’s bad enough that radical bureaucrats are pushing this material in schools. But Maryland Democrats took away the right of parents to opt their young children out of these radical lessons. They’re literally forcing children to be indoctrinated with LGBTQ propaganda.
One parent who is part of this lawsuit is Grace Morrison. Her youngest child has Down’s Syndrome and other special needs. Morrison said “it’s even more difficult” for a child with special needs to understand such bizarre concepts, a point Chief Justice John Roberts raised in yesterday’s arguments.
I can’t help thinking back to the debate over same-sex marriage. So many Christians and pastors just didn’t get it. Over and over, I was told by good people, “Two men getting married doesn’t affect me.” Well, this is proof that it does.
The inability of society to define marriage has led us to the point where we can’t define what a woman is, and this insanity is being forced on our children! If normalcy had prevailed in that debate, we wouldn’t be having this debate today.
The Supreme Court has disappointed us recently. But I am cautiously optimistic based on yesterday’s arguments that there are at least five justices who believe parents, not government bureaucrats, should decide what their young children are taught about gender, love, and sex.
Not So Nice
The phrase “Minnesota Nice” is often used to describe the general friendliness of most Minnesotans. But there’s something not so nice about the Walz family.
When Minneapolis burned during the George Floyd riots, First Lady Gwen Walz said, “I could smell the burning tires… I kept the windows open as long as I could because I felt like that was such a touchstone of what was happening.” Translation: She liked the smell of Minneapolis burning.
Kamala Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, has attacked Elon Musk and mocked the vandalism of Tesla vehicles. Walz even joked about Musk taking big losses on Tesla’s falling stock price. But Walz’s joke bombed after he was reminded that Minnesota state employees have their retirement funds invested in Tesla stock.
Well, a man was just arrested for vandalizing at least six Teslas around Minneapolis. This criminal is a state employee who works for Gov. Walz.
The “progressive” district attorney has decided that no criminal charges will be filed so this radical bureaucrat can keep his job and pay for the damage he did to the vehicles.
There’s the unequal justice that conservatives have been complaining about for years. If a conservative activist was caught vandalizing electric vehicles because he didn’t believe in climate change, he would be facing jail time.
But vandalizing someone’s property because you think Elon Musk is a Nazi working for Adolf Hitler in the White House, well, that gets you a “slap on the wrist.”
Once again, the Left is making a mockery of our justice system. The left is fueling cynicism and undermining the confidence in the institutions that are vital for a safe and civilized society.
By the way, is there anything that Donald Trump can’t do? He has apparently turned leftists against electric cars!
Harvard v. Trump
The battle has been joined. After several universities conceded to the Trump administration’s demands to take serious measures against the rampant antisemitism on their campuses, Harvard University is taking a stand. Not against antisemitism, but against Donald Trump.
Harvard is suing the Trump administration in federal court, and they even hired former federal prosecutor Robert Hur as one of their lead attorneys. Yes, that Robert Hur – the special counsel who informed us that Joe Biden was “an elderly man with a poor memory.”
Many commentators, including the Wall Street Journal editorial board, are screaming about threats to academic freedom, as well as the “constitutional overreach” of a president attempting to tell a private university what to do.
But as one White House spokesman put it, “The gravy train of federal assistance to institutions like Harvard … is coming to an end. Taxpayer funds are a privilege, and Harvard fails to meet the basic conditions required to access that privilege.”
Exactly!
Under Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, if you get federal money, you can’t discriminate based on race, color, or national origin. In 2023, the Supreme Court found Harvard guilty of violating federal law by discriminating on the basis of race in its admissions practices, and they still don’t have their act together.
Harvard is also failing to report foreign donations, as is required by law. They don’t want people to know which foreign governments are buying influence in America by buying influence in Harvard.
Notice the timing here. There have been complaints against Harvard for ignoring antisemitism for years. The complaints skyrocketed after the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre of innocent Israelis. And Harvard did nothing. But if you threaten their tax dollar subsidies, they move with record speed.
And to think that the original charter of Harvard said its purpose was to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Progressive Pilgrimage
During Holy Week leading up to Easter, many Christians make pilgrimages to religious sites. The globalist, secular Left in America has its own pilgrimages and saints. That’s how I think about it when I see Democrats heading to El Salvador to pay homage to Kilmar Garcia, the patron saint of open borders.
For someone to be declared a saint, certain miracles have to be attributed to them. I guess Garcia has performed a miracle in his own way. He’s gotten the “party of women,” the “party of compassion,” and the “party of tolerance” to adopt an illegal alien, a gang member, a wife beater, and a human trafficker as its primary cause.
There’s a long history of this. The Left, which makes its home in the Democrat Party, is very quick to anoint saints and sinners.
Jussie Smollett immediately became a saint after claiming he was attacked by MAGA supporters … in Chicago … at 2:00 AM … in subfreezing temperatures. They actually believed him!
The Left made George Floyd, a drug addict with a criminal record, into a saint. Streets and schools were renamed after him. People were told to say his name.
But Democrats will never say the names of Rachel Morin, Laken Riley, Nate Baker, Omar Hernandez, or any other innocent American victims who were robbed, raped, or murdered by illegal aliens.
Corporations that didn’t want to be on the wrong side of the woke religion surrendered tens of millions of dollars in anti-racist “indulgences,” even though there was never any evidence that race had anything to do with his death.
On the other hand, the Left eagerly condemned Nick Sandmann, a Catholic high school student, as a “sinner” for having the audacity to attend a pro-life march and for standing his ground when a “Native American elder” got into his face.
All of it was fake news. In fact, Sandmann and the other Catholic students were the ones being harassed by the left-wing indigenous activist and a group of black antisemites who claim they are the real Jews.
Honoring Christ
An Easter egg roll is not usually thought of as a religious event, although it is a cherished White House tradition. Continuing his open embrace of Christianity, President Trump stood at the White House balcony Monday and welcomed more than 40,000 people to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. The president said:
“Easter is special, and it’s one of our favorite days… We’re honoring Jesus Christ, and we’re going to honor Jesus Christ … all throughout our lives, not just now, all throughout our lives.”
