Americans Move for Freedom
Leftist governors think their resistance is simply against Donald Trump when it’s really a resistance against America.
It is not new news that Americans have been fleeing blue states to the freer pastures of red states. Indeed, this phenomenon has been transpiring for the last 30 years, as Americans flock to Republican-run states that don’t force irrational, costly climate cult energy policies, protect illegal immigrants at the expense of citizens, progressively infringe on the Second Amendment, and push abortion-on-demand as a so-called human right.
In the most recent decade, most Democrat-run states have embraced the madness of “transgenderism,” effectively throwing out policies designed to protect women’s spaces in order to cater to the nonsensical ideal of gender distinctions being nothing but a social construct. These states have also gone woke, embracing the flawed Marxist-inspired ethic of equity, diversity, and inclusion dressed up in the garb of past racial injustice.
Following Donald Trump’s resounding election victory, these blue-state Democrat leaders have chosen to double down on bad.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Colorado Governor Jared Polis have teamed up to create a group focused on addressing “threats of autocracy.” According to Politico, “The pair of governors say they’re talking to other Democrats and Republicans about joining the effort, which will have its own staff and researchers.”
The governors of California, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts have likewise vowed to resist and fight against Trump and his policy agenda, headlined by his plan to deport illegal aliens.
These Democrats see Trump and his Make America Great Again message as an existential “threat to democracy.” Yet their prescription for addressing this perceived threat is the antithesis of democracy. Trump is merely the political embodiment of the American electorate saying what they have been saying for the past three decades. They don’t want the leftist progressive agenda that the Democrats are selling.
From 1990 to 2021, the nation experienced a massive domestic migration as 13 million Americans moved out of blue states. Over that same 30-year period, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Tennessee, Nevada, and South Carolina just happened to experience a net total in-migration of 13 million. All those states have a common factor: Republican leadership.
California, the bluest of blue states, has led the nation in net domestic out-migration since 1990, losing nearly five million residents. New York has been right behind California in population loss. Illinois has seen over two million residents move out. These blue states are all notorious for their high taxes, over-regulation, and costly welfare programs. They have all pursued leftist progressive policies, which a growing number of Americans are rejecting with their feet.
These blue-state Democrat governors may think they are simply standing against Trump as if he and he alone were the “problem,” even as Democrats continue to rack their collective brains over how Trump could have possibly won so decisively. After all, don’t Americans see that he is a pompous blowhard and an authoritarian threat?
These Democrats are missing an underlying truth to their own political demise: Trump’s power is that he is simply saying what a growing majority of Americans have long been expressing. They want America to return to its freedom-loving roots. They want the Rule of Law respected and enforced justly. They want their constitutional rights — like freedom of speech, religion, and the Second Amendment — embraced and protected by Washington rather than attacked and maligned as problematic and dangerous. They are tired of elites in Washington paying more attention to a cabal of self-important globalists who want to subject the U.S. to the furtherance of their own world-controlling agenda.
Americans are fed up with being blamed for the world’s problems when the truth is that Americans have done more to benefit and uplift the world than any country in history.
There is a reason so many people worldwide desire to immigrate to America: We are still a shining beacon of freedom. However, these blue states have seen their population drop because their Democrat leaders have forgotten what made America the greatest nation on the planet in the first place. It’s not a bigger government; instead, it’s a commitment to limited government to maximize individual liberty.
