Female Gym Owner Targeted by Former Trans Allies
Making a women’s gym available only to biological women is too much for the “tolerant.”
One of the most troubling things about the trans activist movement is that you can either be a dedicated ally or be a target of their unhinged wrath. There is no in-between or room for deviation, which makes their incessant insistence that they are the community of “inclusivity” that much more absurd.
A women’s gym owner in the UK is the latest former ally to learn this lesson. In 2021, fitness influencer Natalee Barnett proposed the idea of a women-only facility after becoming fed up with the “gymtimidation” that she and many other women had dealt with while trying to work out.
At the time, she made it clear that men who call themselves women would be allowed to sign up as gym users per her belief that trans women are women. “Respectfully, if you have a problem with trans women attending my gym then you can find another gym to train at,” Barnett posted on social media. “I have discussed this several times before, trans women are women and also a minority that need to be protected. Please keep your transphobia away.”
Despite her statement, there was no known harassment or backlash for this decision, and it is likely that women who disagreed with this policy simply chose not to participate.
However, after four years of research and reconsideration, Barnett posted an update video to her TikTok account announcing that her gym, The Girl Spot, would be exclusive to biological females. “The Girl Spot Gym exists as a safe space for women because women are facing gym harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence inside of gyms,” she explained, “and I know that because I am the victim of it. So, the meaning of The Girl Spot Gym is entirely different.”
She divulged her own negative experiences in the gym at the hands of strange men and pointed out that many of her interested potential customers have had similar encounters. As such, they too want a facility to exercise in without this concern.
On the flip side, there’s a rising trend of women recording themselves in gyms while working out and then proceeding to shame any man who looks in their direction, accusing him of harassment and predatory behavior. That might make more men open to the idea of same-sex facilities as well.
Interestingly, Barnett has not completely abandoned her left-wing viewpoints. She still subscribes to gender ideology, believing that trans individuals need their safe spaces as well. Attempting to explain her rationale to a group that has abandoned common sense, Barnett pointed out that some gyms are implementing reasonable accommodations, such as separate cubicles and changing areas, which might make trans individuals feel safer.
However, she also recognizes the reality that biological women and men are fundamentally different, and she may also have recognized that most of the public does not adhere to nonsensical left-wing ideas either. But, as those of us on the outside looking in are already well aware, you can’t reason with unhinged leftists. They don’t want logic, and they don’t wish to compromise.
In their eyes, Barnett has committed the unforgivable sin of recognizing biological reality, which now makes her the target.
In response to her TikTok video about the future of The Girl Spot, the backlash has been intense and relentless. Leftist women seem to be on a mission to make Barnett regret her decision. The flood of threats against Barnett that has spread across social media since her announcement suggests that the goal of this “community,” which up until recently considered her a friend and ally, is for her business to fail.
Amongst the deluge of deranged responses on TikTok, one particularly vocal critic suggested that if Barnett doesn’t want men in dresses in her gym, then large, muscular men should show up on opening day to intimidate the women who do attend. Another woman argued that she has worked out next to trans women and never felt unsafe, dismissing the thousands of women who do feel uncomfortable or unsafe in these situations.
On X, one woman shared an entire collage of posts by countless unhinged trans activists, wishing harm upon Barnett and calling her every name in the book. Tolerance for trans, but not for thee, apparently.
Understandably, Barnett has set her social media accounts to private due to the firestorm launched against her. However, she must not budge on her decision — not only because The Girl Spot could be a massive success, but, more importantly, because it leads the way in protecting women through the recognition of reality. Clearly, there is a need for both, and wise women will support both despite the backlash.
In the end, this isn’t just about one gym. It’s about the fundamental right of women to have their own spaces without being forced to accommodate mentally unstable men who simply declare themselves female. That is a fight worth waging and a hill worth dying on.
