Why She Attacked The Covenant School

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department finally released its official report on the 2023 school attack but left out the most important part.

Two years have passed since a deranged individual attacked The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, murdering six people — three children and three adults. The attacker was killed by heroic police at the scene.

What quickly became apparent was that this school attack was different from previous ones. The usual mainstream media and political narrative that almost immediately follows one of these school attacks is the demand for more gun control. However, this time, the press became quickly quiet as confusion over the sex of the attacker plagued reporting on the incident.

The reason behind the initial confusion was twofold, the first being that in most school attacks, the perpetrators are male. In this instance, however, the attacker was a female who “identified” as male.

It was that issue — the perpetrator’s gender dysphoria — that quickly rose to the forefront of public interest. Indeed, the mainstream media has continuously pushed “transgenderism” as a legitimate identity. Therefore, the unspoken concern was that this incident would underscore the reality that gender dysphoria is a mental illness.

Early on, it was learned that the perpetrator had left a trove of potential motive-revealing information — her so-called “manifesto.” She had extensively journaled, leaving behind 16 notebooks from 2017 to 2023. She also left behind a note to her parents on the day of the attack.

Yet controversy quickly ensued after authorities refused to reveal the contents of her “manifesto.” That fueled accusations that they were acting to hide her gender dysphoria as being the primary motive for the attack.

Protecting the ideology of transgenderism seemed to be the rationale behind the refusal of authorities to release any evidence. When The Tennessee Star, a local media outlet, sought access to the perpetrator’s writings, it was rebuffed by law enforcement, citing the ongoing investigation.

After months passed, images of some of the perpetrator’s writings were leaked to the press. These leaked writings appeared to confirm the claims that her transgender ideology — mixed in with a little racism — was a motive behind the attack.

In an effort to prevent more of the attacker’s writings from being made public, the families of the victims were granted copyright control over her materials, with a judge subsequently upholding the unusual copyright claim.

So, with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department finally releasing its investigative report last week, it came as little surprise that the attacker’s gender dysphoria was effectively ignored as a motive.

What the nearly 50-page report concluded was that the perpetrator’s primary motive was notoriety. She “longed for her name and actions to be remembered long after she was dead,” the report ascertained. “She wanted absolute control of the narrative surrounding the attack, particularly her motives.”

The MNPD further claimed, “Many have speculated [the shooter] selected [The Covenant School] for racial, religious, or economic motives. But none of those motives impacted her decision to attack The Covenant.”

Michael Leahy, CEO and editor-in-chief of The Tennessee Star, blasted the report as a “whitewash” of the record. He said, “They are trying to conceal the full motive of the killer, and that motivation is hatred of Christians and the hatred of anybody not fully supportive of transgender ideology.”

Leahy then observed:

How can you write a 48-page report about a self-identified transgender male whose writings that we’ve seen all indicate anger around the issue of transgenderism and her desire to be fully transgender. How can they issue a report and not mention the word transgender? That is one of the fatal flaws … of this report.

Indeed. In response, The Tennessee Star has filed a Freedom of Information Act request against the Justice Department to gain records from the FBI regarding the perpetrator’s writings.

This atrocity was a sad and tragic event for the families whose loved ones were murdered by a crazed individual. Uncovering the darkness of transgenderism and exposing the inherent corrupting evil that motivated her evil acts, while painful, is important. A culture that promoted this ideology as normal and good appears to have fueled her delusion and anger.
