For days now, all the commentators on CNBC, America’s major financial network, have been hyperventilating over President Trump’s trade policies. “Why all these tariffs on the rest of the world? We should put tariffs on China,” they cried.
 
The answer is that we wanted all these other countries to lower their tariffs on our products, and we’re in discussions now to do just that. Meanwhile, Trump increased tariffs on communist China to 145%.
 
But today, all these commentators are screaming, “How are businesses and consumers going to afford products from China?!” They shifted their narrative so they can continue to attack Trump’s populism.  
 
You would think someone on CNBC would point out that our trade deficit is paying for communist China’s military build-up, which our children may have to confront someday.
 
I’m sure there are a lot of American parents who would gladly pay a little more to prevent their son or daughter dying in a war with China over Taiwan.
 
 
 
Myth Busters
 
Here’s something all the talking heads will struggle to explain. They’ve been insisting that implementing Trump’s tariffs will cause inflation to go up. Wrong again.
 
The March inflation report was released yesterday. These “experts” were predicting an annual inflation rate of 2.6%, but it was 2.4%. Driving the drop in inflation were lower airfares, lower energy prices, and the largest monthly decline ever in prescription drug prices.
 
Meanwhile, as the budget reconciliation bill advances, Democrats keep repeating the lie that Trump and Republicans want to cut Medicare to give tax cuts to our billionaire friends. Wrong again.
 
The Trump administration just announced its new Medicare Advantage reimbursement rates. Reducing the reimbursement rate is a simple way to cut funding and shift the burden to recipients.
 
Well, the new Medicare reimbursement rates are much more generous than anyone expected. Far from gutting Medicare, the Trump administration is improving Medicare.
 
 
 
Beijing vs. Hollywood
 
The Communist Party bosses in Beijing are looking for additional ways they can retaliate against the United States. Yesterday, Beijing announced that it’s reducing the number of Hollywood movies played in Chinese theaters.
 
Their hope is that since some Hollywood superstars make profits when their movies play in China, they will be infuriated by losing that cash. The media will give these celebrities huge coverage when they blast Donald Trump for damaging Hollywood’s already struggling movie industry.
 
I’m not shedding any tears over Beijing’s restrictions on American movies. Can you think of a recent blockbuster where Hollywood portrayed communist China as the “bad guy”? I can’t. That’s because Hollywood has been self-censoring its films to appease China’s communist government.
 
In the original 1984 Red Dawn, which I think is a conservative classic, the Soviet Union and communist Cuba jointly invade the United States. The 2012 remake of Red Dawn originally had communist China as the “bad guy.” But in the final version, it’s North Korea, not communist China, that invades America.
 
What happened? Hollywood producers and film industry executives surrendered to pressure from communist China. This happens frequently because, like many globalist corporations, Hollywood puts profit above principle. And therein lies the problem.
 
Hollywood doesn’t think twice about offending American Christians, but it will bend over backwards to appease Chinese communists.
 
 
 
Trump’s Week
 
President Trump has been conducting a workshop at the White House this week on how to build a working-class, blue-collar Republican Party. He held major events with coal miners, NASCAR drivers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was clear from the reactions of the guests how much they like him and he likes them.
 
Of course, the “mainstream media” largely ignored these events because a coalition of American workers and sports fans terrifies them. Instead, the media chose to criticize Trump for playing golf in Florida last weekend while the financial markets were in meltdown.
 
The truth is that Donald Trump did more this week (and it’s not over yet!) than most presidents would do in a month.
 
He’s working to revive the American manufacturing base.
 
He’s building a stronger culturally conservative movement by identifying with groups that Americans respect. “President Harris” would be hanging out with drag queens, not coal miners.
 
Trump is making showers great again by repealing ridiculous Obama-Biden environmental regulations that made showerheads “weak and worthless.”
 
In the middle of all that, he’s backing communist China into a corner. And all the Democrats attacking him over tariffs suddenly found themselves on the side of communist China. They keep falling for his traps and taking the wrong side in 80% - 20% issues. (See next item.)
 
 
 
America Last
 
One major reason Donald Trump is back in the White House is border security. After four years of open borders and record illegal immigration under Biden/Harris, Americans demanded that the border be secured.
 
We were outraged by the illegal alien gangs terrorizing our communities. We were fed up with Chinese-backed cartels sending fentanyl across our border to poison our children. And we were disgusted every time another American, like Nate Baker, Laken Riley, and Omar Hernandez, needlessly lost their lives because of Biden’s open borders insanity.
 
A new study was just released that shows how the Left is making it much harder for our cities, neighborhoods, and schools to be safe.
 
The study found that in the last few years, so-called “sanctuary cities” ignored more than 25,000 requests from federal immigration agents to detain criminal illegal aliens. That means these cities actually released the criminals back onto the streets. And 72 of these illegal aliens were facing charges for murder!
 
Let’s be absolutely clear about this: 80% of Americans support deporting criminal illegal aliens. But Democrat politicians in sanctuary cities choose to free murderers, child molesters, drug dealers, and gang members from jail rather than deport them. Let that sink in.
 
If someone helps plan a bank robbery, the police can charge that person not for robbing the bank but for the crime of “aiding and abetting” the bank robbery.
 
That’s what liberal sanctuary cities are doing. They are aiding and abetting criminal illegal aliens. Just like any individual who hides a bank robber in their home, sanctuary cities are hiding criminal illegal aliens in their communities.
 
Democrats are aiding and abetting criminal aliens and putting American citizens last, and President Trump has had enough. On his Truth Social platform yesterday, Trump declared:
 
“No more Sanctuary Cities! They protect the Criminals, not the Victims. They are disgracing our Country, and are being mocked all over the World. Working on papers to withhold all Federal Funding for any City or State that allows these Death Traps to exist!!!”
 
I am also pleased to report that Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has reopened the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office. The office was created during the first Trump administration to provide “resources, aid, and legal advice to families that have been impacted by the crimes of illegal migrants.”
 
Noem is reopening the office because Joe Biden shut it down. Just one more example of putting Americans last.
 
 
 
An Early Easter
 
Last week, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy addressed the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, which is part of the Department of Transportation. He got a rousing reception from the midshipmen when he promised to “work my a— off” to make sure the academy gets adequate funding after years of neglect from the Biden administration.
 
But that applause was nothing compared to what happened next.
 
As he was finishing his remarks and getting ready to walk off the stage, he paused briefly, looked over the academy’s leadership, and said off the cuff, “Can we bring Jesus up from the basement? Let’s not put Jesus in the basement! Let’s get Him out! Let’s bring Him up!”
 
The crowd of young men and women erupted in cheers! One reporter noted that Duffy was “somewhat taken aback by the enthusiastic response,” which went on for quite a while. You can watch it here.
 
You may be asking yourself, “What is he talking about? Why is Jesus in the basement?” The answer is because of Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, the misnamed Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).
 
A large 10-foot by 19-foot painting called “Christ on the Water” or “Jesus and Lifeboat” dominated the Elliot M. See Room in the academy’s administrative building for nearly 80 years. But Buttigieg covered it up in 2023 after a complaint from MRFF.
 
The painting was eventually removed for “cleaning,” a convenient excuse for taking it down. Months later it was moved to the “lower rear hallway” of the chapel, which, ironically, floods frequently.
 
Two thoughts come to mind.
 
Leftists everywhere must be terrified by the raucous display of “Christian nationalism” from the midshipmen. They love America and they love Jesus.
 
And the idea of bringing Christ up out of the basement is like an early Easter! He lives!
